Our Story

Aubrey Acres is a family owned property.

We originate from Western Australia and we moved to Northern Saskatchewan, Canada in 1996.

My youngest children and I moved to the North Bay area in 2009.

Having grown up in a small country town in Australia, being surrounded by trees, quiet space, and a variety of animals, living even in a small city like North Bay didn’t have a lot of appeal.

It was a few years before I finally found the property that I knew was where I wanted to raise my children and have my dad, David AUBREY Collins, come and live with us and cut grass and rake leaves all day.

I had many fond memories of our Aussie childhood such as my dad methodically cutting the grass every week and patiently watering our prized willow tree in our front yard. Taking care of our dogs, horses, sheep, cats, parrots, magpies, and guinea pigs, was another daily occurrence I fondly remember.

I hoped to recreate this lifestyle, on our family property, here in Astorville, Ontario.

Sadly, my dad unexpectedly passed away in 2013, in Australia and never did get to see our Canadian property. I used to describe it in great detail over the phone to him and told him just how much grass he could take care of and how many dogs we could have. He really would have loved it here.

In 2019, we started converting the barn, from 8 separate stalls to a beautiful open space, to accommodate weddings, family reunions, music retreats, bridal showers, birthday parties, and much more.

My dream from the beginning was to one day share our property with families and friends. My hope is that everyone who visits Aubrey Acres, will feel that “something magical in the air”  that drew us to this beautiful property, that we share with our family of ducks, our chickens, that give us fresh eggs every day, our friendly dog Arlo and our spoilt, much loved cat, Reuben.
